routing slips

Many people are unaware of routing slips and their useful possibilities. You use a routing slip to send an item to a group of people in a specific order. After the first person finishes with the item, he or she marks it complete, and it is automatically passed on to the next person.

This is handy if you want feedback from a lot of people, but you don't want an individual reply from everyone. Simply place yourself as the last person on the routing list, and you will receive all of the comments at once.

creating and addressing a routed item

A routed item can be created and addressed in two ways.

To create a Routing Slip within the item:

  1. Create the new item.
  2. Specify the item as a routed item by selecting Actions > Routing Slip. You'll notice that the To: field has changed to Route:
  3. Address the item by typing a username in the Route: field and pressing Enter.

  4. Repeat for each user included in the route. Remember to enter the names in the order you want them to be routed.

To create a Routing Slip from the Address Book:

  1. Create the new item.
  2. Select the Address Book icon on the toolbar.
  3. In the Address Book window, select the Routing Slip box in the upper-right corner.

  4. Hold the Ctrl key down to select the usernames from the Address Book, and select Route. The names are routed in the same order you selected them. Or, double-click the names in the order you want the item routed.

You can change the order of the route by dragging and dropping names in the Route List (found in the Address Book).
