Preventing Reboot Problem after Installing Remote Management Agent

Note: This bug has been reported to engineering, and a fix will probably be forthcoming soon. Meanwhile, here's a workaround.

PROBLEM: HP DC 7100 reboots straight after login, once ZFD4agent.msi has been installed. (Windows XP)

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.
The bugcheck was: 0x1000008e (0xc0000005, 0xbf9df1dd, 0xaa7cc19c, 0x00000000).
The remote management agent overwrites settings of the Intel graphics driver.

Solution

To start the solution you have to boot in safe-mode.

  1. Go into System, Hardware, Device Manager, and uninstall the Intel Graphics driver.
  2. Reboot the PC.
  3. After the PC has been rebooted the Intel drivers install automatically again.
Once the Intel graphics drivers have been installed again, the original settings are back and the PC is now stable.

The other option is to not install the remote management agent.

Both options work; I've tested it a couple of times.
