Novell Linux Desktop or SUSE Linux Professional 9.2 firewall settings may interfere with Windows system printer sharing.
- Turn off Novell/SUSE firewall using YaST2 (if behind a router-firewall with internet access or on a standalone network without internet).
- Install new printer by starting YaST2 and then going to Hardware | Printer | Other (not detected) | Configure | Other kind of setup | other printer.
- Put in the url in the following format:
- Name your printer.
- Select make and model.
- Now test your setup.
- You will have to have a user name and password on the Windows machine with the printer attached -- this can be done through the Windows "control panel-users".
