Switching between KDE and XD2

I use KDM (the login and session manager for KDE) by default this way to switch back and forth between KDE and XD2 easily.

1. In KDE, open the Control Center, System Administration, Login Manager.
2. Make sure you click on the Administrator Mode button (if you're not logged in as root).
3. Choose the Sessions tab, go to the New type box, and add:
   gnome-session
4. Apply it and log out.
5. Then when you see the KDM SUSE login screen, select the "gnome-session" session type, and you should see XD2.

Note: To keep the desktop files from affecting each other, make separate users for each type of GUI. Then after your Ximian user has logged in using gnome-session, and your KDE user has logged in using KDE, the display manager (kdm) will remember the last log-in type and make it easy for you next time.
