This week the BUZZ comes to you from BrainShare Barcelona Spain. I have been here this week checking out GroupWise events here at BrainShare Barcelona. The BrainShare GroupWise watch turned up a few things. I've shared them them in The BUZZ.
Have you heard?...Jack Messman, Novell's CEO, took time during his keynote on Monday morning at BrainShare Barcelona to talk about GroupWise. Four times in his opening address he spoke about GroupWise and its importance to the company and Novell's commitment to its future.
David Patrick and Bill Hewitt, both Vice-Presidents of Novell, also took time on Monday, and then extensively during Tuesday's keynote to talk about the importance that GroupWise is to Novell's overall strategy. More information about BrainShare and the keynote presentations can be found at www.novell.com/brainshare
Have you heard?...Some press announcements were made here at BrainShare supporting GroupWise. GWAVA released three press releases. Redline 2.5, which is GWAVA's monitoring tool for GroupWise is now available. Version 2.5 now supports monitoring for NotifyLink and Blackberry Enterprise Server, two partners who were also here in Barcelona. Reveal, the GroupWise mailbox auditing tool is now available in Europe. Reveal allows an administrator to access an employees mailbox without changing the password. And Reload, Tay Kratzer's back up and restore solution for GroupWise was announced as a beta product and demonstrated.
Messaging Architects announced the worldwide availablilty of GWMax, their message suite that includes email archiving (GWArchive), anti-spam anti-virus (GW Guardian), and mobile messaging (GW Anywhere). This bundle is designed to be offered with GroupWise 7 and utilizes Novell eDirectory.
Messaging Architects also announced the "MS Exchange Extreme Makeover bundle" which bundles the GroupWise 7 competive upgrade with Messaging Architects GW Max suite.
Messaging Architects also announced the intent to buy 1 million licenses of GroupWise 7 and bundle it with their GW Max product as a suite offering. This total bundle will be priced at $99.
Have you heard?...Last week I reported on the pre-announcement of Omni Messenger, a mobile version of GroupWise Messenger for the Palm and PocketPC devices. I was able to see Omni Messenger in action and it was very impressive. Using your mobile device, you are able to chat live with someone on running GroupWise Messenger on their computer. You can visit www.omni-ts.com to see more.
Have you heard?...If you are in the Montreal area in September, Laura Chappel will be visiting to participate in a security conference on protecting your computers. Find out more information here.
