Environment
NetWare 6.5 SP3
ZENworks 6.5 Server Management SP1b
(should be equal to all ZENworks Server Versions (?)

Problem

ZENworks 6.5 Server Management ZENLoader [Policy Package Agent:Module]Reports Error "Exception in reading ServiceConfiguration. Verify configuration data is correct." and "*** Exception: PolicyIOException:" Full Error

Debug-Log follows:

2005.09.01 12:35:22 [Policy Package Agent:Module] Exception in reading ServiceConfiguration. Verify configuration data is correct.
2005.09.01 12:35:22 [Policy Package Agent:Module] *** Exception: PolicyIOException: com.novell.application.servman.policies.PolicyIOException:

Distribution Policy had, however, become corrupt. There was an older Policy-File (which did not exist anymore in eDirectory) still cached in the
\\ZENWORKSINSTALLVOLUME\ZENWORKS\PDS\SMANAGER\policy directory.

Solution

  1. Shutdown ZENworks for Servers (zfsstop).
  2. Make sure none of the TED ZfS-Services are running.
  3. Then rename the \\ZENWORKSINSTALLVOLUME\ZENWORKS\PDS\SMANAGER\policy directory to "policy.old" and create a new directory "policy" in that path.
  4. Start ZFS.NCF and check that the actual Distribution Policy appears in the new directory.

The IOException should be gone now. It may be necessary to shutdown ZfS again and restart it, so the policy becomes effective.
