    • kernel-source
    • gcc
    • make

  2. Next you need to make sure that your version on your kernel-source is the same as the version on your kernel-default or kernel-smp. You will have the kernel-default if you have a uniprocessor and you will have the kernel-smp for a multiprocessor, or if you have hyperthreading turned on. The version must be the same before you do the next step.

    make cloneconfig; make prepare-all

  4. Now install VMWare and run the

Note: Each time that you update a kernel you will need to repeat steps (3) and (4). This will not cause you to lose your VMWare configurations.
