ENVIRONMENT:
PCs running Windows 2000 sp2.
Novell client 4.90 sp2
ZENworks Desktop Management 6.5
PROBLEM: When trying to use Remote Management on a workstation through ConsoleOne in a ZENworks 6.5 environment, instead of connecting you receive the error message 1456: The Remote Management Agent is unable to read information... The only TID I found said to reinstall the DMA.
SOLUTION: You will find the path string "C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\" is not listed in the Environment Variable "Path". With this missing, C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\WMSchApi.dll cannot load so the workstation never authenticates on boot up.
This can be seen in the log file C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\RemoteManagement\RMAgent\RMErrorLogX.txt, 'X' is a number.
By reinserting this string and having the PC reboot, I have had 100% success. I now have a VB script pushed through ZENworks to fix this.
