A lot of people are converted to the idea of switching to Linux in their data center based on the tremendous cost savings that represents, but find that there are one or two key applications they need to use in their business that are currently not available on Linux. The vendors who create those products need to hear about your needs, but they need more than one or two requests to make it worth their investment.
That's where we come in.
If you've got any critical applications that you MUST be able to use on Linux, please take a minute to let us know what they are. We'll monitor the submissions to see what the most popular requests are, and do what we can to nudge the vendors in that direction. Together, your voices will count for more than they would separately.
Note: If you have more than one product to request, you'll need to fill out a separate submission form for each one. We may contact you via email for additional information if your request is particularly intriguing.
Thank you for helping us grow the Linux marketplace!
Again, please remember : One application per submission. Thank you!

- Dear ideator, Push this idea hard, get more 'required apps' from not only data centre. This is one of those initiatives that are simple, which nevertheless can make a fundamental difference (and a significant positive contribution). Bravo.
- Glad to see someone trying to get more/better support for Linux!
- Really? You'd talk to those companies for us? Gee... Thanks! :D
- this is what we need !
- 1. Sorry for my bad English ;-) 2. As an engineer, I want to see more EDA (Electronic Design Automation) applications: for PCB route (P-CAD etc), for HDL simulation (Active-HDL, ModelSim), for UHF analisys (MicroWave Office etc) and so on. Linux should be a good platform for electronic design!
- This is the way to go
- One of the best surveys ever.... Good job...
- want to vote but don't want to leave name and email.
- Graet idea. Free at last. Thank you.
- I'm a student at Delft University of Technology (15K+ students) and also miss programs that do run on Linux/Unix, but of which only the Windows version are made available for free to freshmen or for a small fee to students. Examples: MATLAB/Simulink, FEMLAB, ANSYS and others. Furthermore, the GUIs and installation procedures of these tools are so horrid and outdated, that they don't exactly invite people to use them.
- Better if we can see the statistics results. Where it is? Thanks.
- Thanks Novell! You guys are doing a great service for the Linux community!
- one of the best idea for the linux community
- Open source operating systems are the future. Thanks to Novell for not conforming to a horrid past of resource hogging, proprietary API utilizing OSs.
- good idea, more multiplatforms developers
