ConsoleOne fonts look terrible on an LCD monitor.
Install Java Runtime 6.0 (code-named Mustang) with sub-pixel rendering (aka Cleartype).
1. Download and install the appropriate JDK 6.0 from http://download.java.net/jdk6/binaries/ (I used http://download.java.net/download/jdk6/binaries/jdk-6_0-ea-bin-b51-windows-i586-08_sep_2005.exe)
2. Copy the bin and lib directories with all sub-dirs from the new jre install (C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0 by default) to the ConsoleOne\1.2\jre directory, overwriting all files.
3. Copy all files from ConsoleOne\1.2\jre\client to ConsoleOne\1.2\jre\server, overwriting the existing files.
That's it! Fire up ConsoleOne and enjoy your new low-eyestrain fonts!
After you've copied the files to the ConsoleOne directory, you can un-install the JDK piece, the JRE piece, or both, if you want to get some disk space back.
Note: This solution was tested only on WinXP i586, but it should work on any platform supported by the JDK.
