Problem

A reader asked the following question:

"I have a user who is excluded from message size restriction. However, this user also has a nickname. Oversized messages sent to nickname@domain get stopped, which is not what I want. How would I fix things so the nickname recipient is also excluded from message size restriction?"

Here's what Uwe Buckesfeld suggested ...

Solution

The restriction is in the default class of service, correct? The GWIA doesn't check classes of service for nicknames, hence the default class applies.

To solve this problem, you can set the default class of service to allow everything and restrict everything else through other classes of service.

Or, you can create a distribution list with the same name as the nickname and add this list to the exceptions. The /group switch must be set in the gwia.cfg file.
