Gotcha when you use Volatile User Feature

PROBLEM: Our school district used generic login accounts for some time. We recently moved to having students log in with unique usernames, and we instituted a Dynamic Local User policy for the existing generic accounts. We also checked the volatile user feature to be used as we did this. Unfortunately, many students had saved files to workstation folders and those folders were deleted as students logged out of the generic accounts with the newly instituted policy. As a result, users lost these files before they were able to move them to other storage mediums.

SOLUTION: To avoid this, be sure not to check the volatile user feature until you are sure that everyone in your organization has had time to move the files from local workstation hard drives to other storage locations.
