A Forum reader asked the following question:

"I'm using Identity Manager 2.01. I've configured an AD driver to synchronize accounts.

Each time I restart the driver it synchonizes. Because I've configured e-mail notification for veto in a rule, I'm getting more and more mail each time the driver is restarted.

Is there a way to prevent the driver from making a synchronization at startup?"

And here's the response from Rob Schneider ...

Try this:

1. Go into the driver and disable it.

2. Click Apply.

3. Re-enable the driver by clicking either the "Automatic" or "Manual" start options.

As you click this, you should see an additional check box come into view (i.e. it's not there until you re-enable). It says, "Do not automatically synchronize the driver at startup" or something to that effect.

4. Put a Check in that box, and then click OK or Apply.

5. Restart your driver.

Checking that box effectively clears the event cache for the driver and also prevents the sync.

Warning: If you clear the event cache, you lose any changes that may be in queue. So, this option should be used with care. It's usually good in a lab environment, and sometimes useful in production, if you absolutely need to use it.
