A Forum reader asked the following question:
"I have a three-node OES Linux cluster running Groupwise 7.01, with two POs and one domain. I'm trying to come up with some creative approaches for backup. My thought was to use dbcopy in a cron job, but then I realized that might be a little complicated, because the POs could be on any node at backup time. Is anyone doing anything like this? Does anyone have any ideas?"
And here's a suggestion from Marc Porter ...
Check out GWAVA Reload - it's cluster-aware.
Before we installed Reload, we used dbcopy from a Windows box instead of Linux, and we ran it in the Windows scheduler.
To achieve, this we added the ncpmount command to our resource load script so the folder with the groupwise PO is also mounted as an NCP share. Then when we use dbcopy on our Wondows box, we use the unc path \\resource_ip\PO-PATH to copy the files. If the PO is migrated to another node, the IP address follows, so it is still accessible from the Windows machine.
