Many of you are wondering when ZENworks will be able to manage Windows Vista. Here's the skinny.

The next major release of ZENworks (codenamed Pulsar), expected to release in mid 2007, will support management of Windows Vista. There are no plans to support Windows Vista as a managed platform in previous versions of ZENworks.

ZENworks 7.5 Asset Management already supports Windows Vista and if you are considering migration you should use this product to run readiness reports to determine which machines are capable of running this new operating system.

Novell is committed to supporting and managing a cross- platform environment. A series of web seminars highlighting best practices for assessing, deploying, and managing Windows Vista will begin at the end of January. You can register for these events and others at www.novell.com/events

  • What happend to the ' we will support Vista with SP2 for Zenworks 7??'
  • Not the easiest of decisions for the ZEN team to make, congratulations on being brave and doing absolutely the right thing.
  • This is good to know, though I have to admit I am not happy to hear it. At the very least, I would like to be able to use ZfD 7.x imaging with Vista. Otherwise we may have to look into alternatives to ZfD. We probably won't move to ZfD 8 until the major bugs are worked out.
  • Curious that someone is prepared to move to the 'bleeding edge' with the first version of an operating system yet have no faith in the Zenworks team to deliver a rock solid product in version 8.
  • Will Pulsar still run on Netware server platform?
