Problem

For some reason you can't get to Groupwise WebAccess, or for some reason your company hasn't set up Groupwise Mobile - therefore you need a way to view your accepted GroupWise appointments.

Solution

Here are the steps for pushing out your accepted GroupWise appointments to your Google Calendar:

1. From GroupWise, create a rule like this:
"When event is Filed to Calendar folder and if condition is Appointment, Add Action to Delegate to: name@gmail.com Comments to recepient:GWDelgate"

2. From gmail, create a filter where the search criteria is from your GroupWise email address, name@source.domain, and has the words GWDelegate.

3. Set the action to "Delete it".

Note: I was able to then set up gmobilesync, http://rareedge.com/gmobilesync/, to sync my Google calendar to my Windows Mobile 5 device and thus my GroupWise Calendar. Version 1.4 of the app will include the ability to schedule a sync.

Reader Comments

  • Is this supposed to be a joke? 1. Delegate appointment. 2. Identify appointment. 3. Delete appointment. At what point, do you think, this script adds Groupwise appointments to your Google calendar. Answer: Never
  • The solution worked for me. It didn't work the first day I set it up - gmail didn't recognize my test appointments, but when I checked it today, it was and all my recent appointments were there on my calendar. The reader comment calling this a "joke" is wrong. Steps 2-3 are optional; it just keeps the emails from forwarded from cluttering your Inbox. Even though the emails are deleted, the appointments are still recognized by Gmail and display on the Google calendar. Really cool - thanks!
  • Exactly what I was looking for. Step 1 allowed my accepted appointments in Groupwise to be posted in my Google Calendar - Awesome. Did not work on "posted appointments" that I did not have to accept
