Adding trustee rights on a large number of individual files and directories takes a long time and is hard to manage.
Using the new TRUSTEE.NLM utility from Novell, I am now able to make these changes in minutes and not hours. In addition to adding trustee rights, it can subtract rights, report existing rights, output or accept input from csv files, as well as manipulate user and directory quotas.
Having this "engine" to do the nuts and bolts, I can now extract this information into spreadsheets or databases and do meaningful surveys and security checks of my data's access rights. This easily beats the property right-clicking scenario, which works well for maybe one or two directories but begins to get old rather quickly when done for large numbers.
