Current Version: ZENworks for Desktops 3.2
We asked the folks who deliver the ZENworks for Desktops 3 Advanced Technical Training (ATT) if they could share a few exclusive tips with us from the training they present, and they graciously agreed. Here's a nice one to help you manage workstations remotely.
Need to Remote Control, but you don't know the workstation object name? If you know the username, do this:
- Properties of the user
- Pulldown the ZENworks tab
- Choose Logged In Workstations. From there, you can choose details to be at the properties of the workstation object.

In response to this article, I'd like to share a tip we often use for our consulting clients. Sure, looking up the user's logged-in workstations can work, but it seems like a lot of trouble to go through every time you need to remote control a workstation you don't know the name of. Why not set up the HelpDesk Requester Policy (under the User Policy Package) once and have your users tell you their workstation name? In my opinion, this is the single best reason to run the helpdesk requester on any large network.
