If you'd like to prevent users from running non-standard applications on NT/W2k/XP workstations, here's an idea.
Install ExeBlock system device driver. This device driver blocks executables running except those which are in the paths you approve. (Can be configured and deployed with ZENworks in the registry.)
Also great for Citrix servers running Novell Client. And best of all, it's free.
EXAMPLE: eg Only allow exe's in c:\program\files and c:\winnt\ to be run.
Also have NTFS permissions also set on these directories to stop additional exe's being added to these directories.
