Network Drive Loses Root Directory

We've run into a problem where a network drive loses the root directory and shows as being in group only - in WinXP.
Note: there's no problem on Win95, Win98, Win2000. We only noticed this problem on the new Compaq D510 with WinXP.
Solution: Map the drive and force the correct directory for the network drive.
