eDirectory can be downloaded free of charge if you have already purchased NetWare 5 and can provide a NetWare 5 serial number for the download (eDirectory Upgrade for NetWare).
And just for the record, eDirectory and NDS 8 are synonymous. (Much confusion about this, sorry to say.)
System Requirements:
- NDS 8 (eDirectory) can run on any NetWare 5.x Server.
- NDS 8 (eDirectory) cannot run on any NetWare 4.x Server.
- If NDS 8 (eDirectory) is introduced into an NDS Tree, every other server in the tree (5.x and 4.x) should be patched to the latest NetWare Service Pack available for the specific version.
- It doesn't matter which server in the tree you install NDS 8 on (e.g., Master of [Root], etc).
