If you're doing integration that involves Sun web servers, and were wondering if it's possible to bind with eDirectory using "uid= " instead of "cn= ", here's the scoop.
You can set up the user accounts, via an LDIF file for example, as uid=xxx. If the accounts already exist then you need to, via an LDIF file for example, a modrdn on each object.
The LDIF file would look something like this:
dn: cn=Sue Jacobs, ou=Marketing, o=Ace Industry, c=US changetype: modrdn newrdn: uid=SJacobs deleteoldrdn: 1
Now you can log in using UID.
