Heads Up: Have you seen this nifty new free tool from Novell's own Jim Schnitter? LDAP Error Count will count all the LDAP error codes in a dstrace or iMonitor log file. You can use this tool to quickly determine the result of every LDAP operation.
It works in conjunction with log files created as per this article.
The tool presents a report of every LDAP result code found in the log file. The result codes are also translated into a descriptive message.
Finally, the tool returns an overall count of the total number of LDAP operations.
The program has been tested on WindowsXP using ActiveState's Perl, RedHat AS 2.1, and even performs like a champ on SUSE Enterprise 9. It should work on any platform that has Perl installed.
Sample output report
|11605 :||LDAP Code 0 (SUCCESS)|
|91 :||LDAP Code 6 (COMPARE TRUE)|
|143 :||LDAP Code 16 (NO SUCH ATTRIBUTE)|
|41 :||LDAP Code 20 (TYPE OR VALUE EXISTS)|
|187 :||LDAP Code 32 (NO SUCH OBJECT)|
|1 :||LDAP Code 34 (INVALID DN SYNTAX)|
|61 :||LDAP Code 49 (INVALID CREDENTIALS)|
|9 :||LDAP Code 53 (UNWILLING TO PERFORM)|
|12138 :||Total Operations|
