Question: I purchased an Expansion Pack for a customer that has the Novell Small Business Suite 6 Starter Pack deployed. When I use iManager or NWADMIN, I cannot see the Expansion Pack licenses to activate them. What am I doing wrong?

Answer: Expansion Pack licenses can only be enabled through EXPAND.NLM.

To add Expansion Pack licenses, follow the steps below:

  1. Depending on the version of the NSBS 6 Starter Pack you have installed (Regular 5- or 10-user version, or "Emerging Market" version in Eastern Europe), order through normal VLA processes, one of the following Expansion Packs:

    • Regular Expansion Pack
    • Emerging Market Expansion Pack

You will receive an Expansion Pack license file attachment via e-mail.

  2. Copy the attached license file onto a floppy diskette.

  3. Insert the license diskette into the NSBS 6 server.

  4. At the server, press <Ctrl> + <Esc> to get a list of available server screens.

  5. From the options, select "System Console" and press .

  6. Type Expand and press .

This runs EXPAND.NLM which unlocks the user count limitation and increases the licensed number of users by five.

  7. Eject the license diskette you created in Step 2 and store it in a safe place.

With the Expansion Pack installed, The Novell Small Business Suite 6 has now increased its license count by 5 users and is enabled to accept Novell standard additive user licenses that the customer may purchase later.
