Increasingly, customers are emphasizing logging and reporting of users' Internet activity. Since these logs and reports may potentially be used for disciplinary and/or legal action, their accuracy and level of detail can be key business requirements of a BorderManager project.
Currently, our transparent HTTP proxy does not log destination host information (neither IP address nor DNS host name) in the common or extended logs that are used by third-party reporting tools such as WebTrends. Further, while it does log destination host IP address in the BTRIEVE audit log, DNS host names are not logged there, and can only be obtained by selecting each entry and manually forcing a reverse lookup.
This is an important design consideration if your customer requires detailed logging and reporting.
