Did you know that you can use the NetWare 5 PING console command to ping IP hosts in the network?

At the server console, enter PING followed by the host's IP address or DNS name, and see what neat info you get back. Things like:

  • the name of the host you're pinging
  • the number of packets sent and received
  • information about the round trip time of packets.

If you just enter PING (without an IP addy or name), the PING utility opens, and you can then specify the IP address or hostname of the host you want to ping, as well as how long you want to pause between pings, and the size of the IP packets you want to send.

Cool.
