There was once a nasty rumor that the AD Driver didn't do moves. Well, we're here to dispell that rumor.

Yes, in fact, the AD Driver does do moves. It works perfectly fine. Novell's consultants have done several AD mirror implementations (adopting the ndsmirror configuration). They were able to mirror an eDirectory tree into an AD tree including object moves.

Note, however, that every single attribute in the move example below is REQUIRED. Meaning you need an associated new parent container, the object ID of the object you're going to move, etc.:

<move class-name="{@class-name}" event-id="{@event-id}" old-src-dn="{@src-dn}" src-dn="{@src-dn}">
  <xsl:copy-of select="association"/>
  <parent src-dn="{$parent-src-dn}" src-entry-id="{$parent/@src-entry-id}">
    <association>
      <xsl:value-of select="$parent/association"/>
    </association>
  </parent>
</move>
