Changing the Default Font for All Your Outgoing Mail

We're received several inquires like this one, and thought it was high time to clear this up.

How can I change the default font type in my outgoing mail? Mine does not keep the settings I've selected and it's very irritating to have to change the font every time I write to someone.

Here's the deal. To change mail fonts for all mail you send (not just a specific one), you have to change your Windows default font settings.

  1. Right-click on the Windows desktop, then choose "Properties".
  2. Select the "Appearance" tab.
  3. In the "Item" drop-down menu, choose "Message Box".
  4. Choose the desired font.
  5. Click OK.

NOTE: The above steps will also modify the font for the TO:, CC:, and BC: address lines, of a message, in GroupWise 5.5. GroupWise 5.2 does not have a way of modifying the font for the address lines.

Using Enhancement Pack

Update: If you are using the Enhancement Pack, it's even easier. (Several readers pointed out that we forgot to explain this. Sorry!) Here's what you do:

  1. Open a new message using GroupWise Enhancement Pack.
  2. Select View and change to HTML.
  3. Set the font and pitch as desired.
  4. Right-click on the font.
  5. Select Set Current Font as default.
