Problem: At the site I work at, staff wanted a global address book, filled with distribution lists relevant to them. As groupwise 6 doesn't support global address books (other than the system book) it became a small problem.

Solution:

Create a global shared address book:

  1. Create a dummy user. In my setup I used the name of the site, split into first and last name fields.

  2. Create an address book, (named what you want the other users to see) and fill it full of the distribution lists / groups / users relevant to that address book.

  3. The final step is to share that address book with all of the relevant staff, that way you have a global address book, that updates for all users with only a few clicks.
Easy solution and works very well.
