ensure items are easy to find using the My Subject field

Have you ever received an e-mail with a subject that does not make any sense? GroupWise automatically puts the first sentence of an email into the subject field if it is left blank, but sometimes it is still too vague. Other times, the subject is a reply to a previously sent e-mail without further explanation.

Whatever the reason, confusing subjects make it difficult to find items when you need them. How can you resolve this problem?

In the above figure, notice that the item from Andy Taylor has a subject of "Fwd: Re: FYI".

using the My Subject feature

To personalize the subject of an item:

  1. Open the item and select the Personalize tab.


  2. Type your personalized subject in the My Subject field.

  4. When you are finished, Close the item.

Notice the subject from Andy Taylor's item is no longer "Fwd: Re: FYI". Now the subject is "Important info about Project 32."

This feature works in all your GroupWise folders (which is great for Checklist items).

understanding where this feature works

Understand that the real subject is still what the sender originally sent. If you Reply to or Forward the item the real subject is used, not your personalized one.

Please note that this feature does not work in WebAccess, you will always see the original subject when you use Novell GroupWise WebAccess.
