Details
The Contextless Login Extension for Window 9x and Windows NT allows for contextless login without requiring catalogs on the backend. This extension searches specified locations in the tree for all occurrences of the username. If one exists, LgnCLW32 automatically updates the context field of the NDS Tab.
If more than one exists, the user is presented a dialog where he may choose which context is to be used.
Please see this article for a workaround to a possible problem using this tool, as reported by Mark Saunders.

- Beware of 4.9 client LDAP contextless login, works great but only on eDirectory, does not work on regular NDS 7 or NDS 8 (too bad), use this utility if your environment is not eDir
- The BEST tool I've seen on CoolSlutions. I wish there were more than 5 stars to give it. Simple, small, fast, and effective.
- A simple no hassle tool that does the job. Hans
- very useful tool - should be built into the client
- To those who think this should be in the client; it will be. the 4.90 and 3.40 clients will have this in-built.
- Works great but need to be able to override a locked workstation with an NT domain or local workstation admin account.
- saved me the hassle of messing with the normal context-less login. awesome.
- Wonderful tool should be built in to the client
- The 4.9 Novell client has LDAP contextless login built-in, which is *much* faster than this solution. With the 4.9 client, this solution is no longer needed for Windows NT/2000/XP.
- A good tool, but one bug not mentioned here. Ever since we started using the CL tool last year we have had trouble logging into machines that are already logged in as another NDS user and: 1. The workstation is locked using CTRL-ALT-DEL, 2. A screensaver is running that requires a password to shut it off, 3. A PC in standby mode The password window gives you an option to log in as a Windows user or an NDS user. If I choose NDS user, it will appear to find the user object, but when I click on OK, I get an error that says, "The user does not exist in the specified context." If I try to log in as a Windows user, after entering my username and go to the password field, CL steps in again tries to force it do an NDS login, which of course fails. As such, the only way I have found to get into one of these PCs is to turn it off with the power switch--which I hate to do as I don't know if the user has any open, unsaved documents.
- This utility goes out and dreges eDir. There are newer (better) ways to do contextless login. Specifically, use the LDAP contextless login extension.
- Great for small trees with few NDS objects. Terrible on large trees and WAN environments.
- I use this for all containers that I'm responsible for and it works great. You just tell it where to search up to. Therefore, no needless tree walking. Works on 2K and XP too.
- Wow! They don't recommend using it on large trees, but it even works great on our large tree!
- The setup text file does not make the setup of the tool clear... e.g. How can you have a DWORD 0xFFFFFFFF..?
- Should be integrated in NWClient. There only seems to be a bug with the wildcards, there are only 10 Users shown in the window and you canīt scroll.
- Works great in large trees, a little slow in low bandwith areas. Warning: I have found that it breaks the ability of a local administrator account to unlock a PC that has been locked by anyone that CTRL-ALT-DEL or a screensaver.
- Wow, this works great!!
- Works great, would like to talk with prgrammer and see if customization could be done. How could we contact them?
- Great tool, wished it integrated into the client software.
