NDSCount 3 is a Windows-based, 32-bit, utility that scans your NDS schema and NDS database and reports object counts based on the different object classes that are defined. If extensions, such as LDAP, have been installed, they too can be reported. For each object class, an object count is given--you can report by container or by partition. Reporting by partition is very useful if you are trying to keep the total object count per partition to within Novell's NDS design recommendation.
A new feature of the 32-bit version of NDSCount is that you can report on any object types: effective, non-effective, and even auxiliary classes! Other new features include the following:
- Report object count by class
- Report object count by container
- Report object count by partition
Create a CSV file of the object counts for importing into database or spreadsheet applications.
NDSCount is a must-have tool when doing an NDS Health Check or planning to restructure your tree.
NDSCount only reads from the schema and in no ways modifies the schema nor even writes to the DS.
As a time benchmark reference, it takes about 45 minutes for NDSCount to scan and report on 185 classes in 330 containers for a total of about 60,000 objects.
