This utility helps administrators who are looking for an easy way to update eDirectory records from an Excel file.

After completing some simple configuration, the utility reads records from an Excel file and generates an LDIF file that can then be imported into eDirectory to create accounts.

I kindly request everybody to send your feedback and suggestions to help me make improvements to the utility.

Note: The utility has been tested on win2K server/adv server/professional.

• Needs a Mac OS X version.
• Uses proprietary Windows code for connecting to the Excel sheet as a database via Java. Should not be hard to port to a more generic version if given a CSV file instead of an Excel sheet f.ex.
• It did create an LDIF file, without though a 'Modify Change Type' (add/delete/replace) given a 'Change Type' of' modify defined in the spreadsheet. I had to add in a Modify Change Type ... Generated was for example: # Record 1 dn: cn=DoeJ,ou=Test,o=D1 changetype: modify loginGraceLimit: 3.0 Required to work is: # Record 1 dn: cn=DoeJ,ou=Test,o=D1 changetype: modify replace: loginGraceLimit loginGraceLimit: 3

• Very useful! Used it to load OpenLDAP. Error file can be misleading. Most messages are actually just informational. keith@doghike.org
