    Details

    Consider this a beta release.

Run ze.exe with no args for a simple GUI.

ze -help for a few cli options

Most probably will work on XP only, nothing else tested.

It's not been stressed very hard, but seems to work ok.

Feedback, comments would be good; may even fix the bugs :)

    Update
Now works with ZENworks 6.5. It's still useful even with the new ZISWIN in 6.5 as you can dump ZISdata directly to a USB attached hard disk; saves much messing about. Written with MASM32 and tested with XP only.

    • Excellent! Plain, simple commandline based. Exactly the kind of tool I was looking for. At the moment I use the commercial tool ZISDWIZ, but the value for money ratio is very poor. This is a great alternative. Thanks!
    • Very nice tool to me, thanks. Let my translate the German comment below, just in case Paul Hunt can't understand German language ;-) That tool seems to work quite nice. Unfortunately a ZISD entry, that is the only relevant to me is not displayed, and so cannot be modified: the DNS server's IP addresses. When I do a ZDFAgent update for PCs imaged using ZFD-3.2, then the ZISD is empty, as it hasn't be used yet. Unfortunatley it looks like the ZfD installation therefor removes the DNS server's entries from my PCs. After that nothing is operational until a local admin has re-entered these values. Up to now I couldn't find any way to automate this task.
    • typed wrong url above it's at -> http://www.clod.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ there's also a pre-pxe password bootstrap (rename existing nbp and pop this one in its place. we use it to start pxelinux menu. left-shift + left-alt to get password prompt to boot your alternative pxe nbp) and a netware password app useful for teachers in school. all untidy and really meant for internal consumption only, but there by request. email above if any questions etc.
    • could you see if the binary at http://www.pwp.clod.blueyonder.co.uk/ze.exe works for the nameserver bit, there's a couple of switches, -edns to list or clear the number it's found and -adns to add a nameserver. I have absolutely no way of testing this here. you can mail me at paul.hunt@heathfield.sandwell.sch.uk if it needs work.
