It's nice that GroupWise keeps the attachments with the message, but sometimes you don't want to keep a copy of the attachment in your mailbox ( eating up quota space ), but you do need to keep a copy of the message.
Here is a small c3po that will help. GWStrip will make a copy of the original message (incoming or outgoing ) minus attachments.
Gwstrip will remove all attachments ( but retain header info for internet messages, up to the first blank line ), make a note of the attachment(s) removed and append "(copy)" to the subject line to indicate the message was modified. Just highlight a message & press the toolbar button that looks ( sort of ) like a paper clip with int'l "NO" sign.
Requires 6.01 or higher, tested only on US English.

- Does exactly what is says on the tin. This sort of functionality should be inside the product.... Thanks Brian.
- I found this really useful, until i was upgraded to Groupwise 6.5, which it appears to be incompatible with - causing GW to crash a lot.
- does not work on some users. Brian Anderson will not offer support for his tool.
- Unfortunately doesn't seem to work with GW v6.5
- Great tool. Still works in GW7, however, there must be some errors in the coding, as you will need to chage the rights on HKLM\SOFTWARE\Novell\GroupWise\5.0\C3PO\DataTypes\GW.MESSAGE\gwstrip key to allow full control to Everyone. Otherwise GroupWise crashes for non-administrative users.
- the site seems to be down. Recieve a page not found error. Note:From Brian: If the site goes down, you should be able to get to download the tool at ftp://anderbr3.duc.auburn.edu/gwstuff/gwstrip.zip
- A handy tool that I've been wishing for. Thanks! -jdb
- Excellent tool. But why can't we do this in GW itself?
- Works well, but since I installed it my GWise client mysteriously crashes once in a while, and always after I've just deleted an email. If I remove GWstrip, no more crashes.
- Useful and works for me in 6.5.x .... but after a lot of troubleshooting found that it creates a bug that causes messages in IMAP accounts to be downloaded when you just select them (even though GW is only set to retrieve headers and even though you don't double click on the messages) , which is annoying as it creates a lag every time you select message(s) in IMAP folders unless it/they has already been downloaded. Also note that it wipes out all attachments, which includes the Properties... you can't selectively delete attachments from individual messages. I do have periodic GW crashes... but not sure if they are related to this CP3O.
