PROBLEM: When a spooling security feature is installed either before or as part of windows 2000 sp4 it causes all Novell 4.11 (and perhaps other versions) printers installed on the computer to have a 30-second delay. The problem also is sometimes accompanied with 30-second freezes when accessing Novell network drives.

SOLUTION: The problem is caused by Microsoft's Q329170 patch, also part of sp4. If this patch was installed using windows update you can run c:\winnt\$NtUninstallQ329170$\spuninst\spuninst.exe and it will fix the problem. Before you do this, read over what Q329170 does and make sure you are willing to accept reversing the update.

On computers with irreversible sp4 installs, you will have to move $NtUninstallQ329170$ from another computer into the WINNT directory on that machine, then follow the same procedure. This second procedure worked for all of the machines I had to run it on.
