PROBLEM:Windows XP SP2 breaks the remote control feature in ConsoleOne .

Solution

  1. Create a simple app in ConsoleOne.
  2. Right-click in the user container, select new -> object (App).
  3. Name your application (I named mine SP2 Reg Fix).
  4. Like I said, simple app, no path to executable, check Details and Finish.
  5. Click on Distribution Options tab, select Registry.
  6. Create the following Keys and Strings:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameter
    s\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List]
    "dpmw32.exe"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\dpmw32.exe:*:Enabled:NDPS  RPM &
    Notification Listener"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameter
    s\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\GloballyOpenPorts\List]
    "1677:TCP"="1677:TCP:*:Enabled:Groupwise"
    "1677:UDP"="1677:UDP:*:Enabled:Groupwise"
    "1761:TCP"="1761:TCP:*:Enabled:Zenworks"
    "1761:UDP"="1761:UDP:*:Enabled:Zenworks"
    "1762:UDP"="1762:UDP:*:Enabled:Zenworks"

Note the first of the value is the data name and the second is the value (string no quotations).

This will let you remote control into machines when pushed out to your users using NAL. Make sure NALWIN32.EXE is either in the startup folder, or set the refresh rate in Launcher Configuration to suit the needs of this new app. Enjoy!
