We've heard from several people looking for the ability to do bi-directional replication. TED can do bi-directional sync after a fashion: you can run distributor and subscriber back to back on the same server. What TED doesn't give you is some of the NRS replication and per-file actions. What TED does give you is a robust and WAN friendly data transfer mechanism.
If you want a replacement to NRS, you might take a look at this NLM that was created by Novell Consulting in Hungary. It's called Sync Center. It is NOT eDirectory integrated, but apparently many customers like it and use it and recommend it highly. It's not free, but it is supported by the Hungarian Consulting team.
Sync Center is an easy-to-use piece of software that allows copying files, directories, and even whole volumes among NetWare servers. Its operation is based on a schedule; it basically requires only a one-time setting and then it will automatically maintain the synchronized status. It copies the newly created or modified files and deletes the removed files on the target server.
It consists of two main parts:
- NLM application running on the server performs the actual synchronization
- User Interface running on the workstation provides easy configuration.
