We found that the ZENworks Agent failed to login for our users on XP workstations. It does not make a connection to the Middle Tier Server. This was caused by the scripted "Windows XP unattend.txt" build branding IE settings.
Symptoms are the user logs into a XP Workstation (might happen on Windows 2000 as well, I have not tested). The agent login come up straight away. Cannot log into the agent so have to press cancel. Right clicking on the system tray agent icon and selecting login works.
SOLUTION: Remove the registry key:
HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections
The agent appears to read this setting for some reason. I guess the user hive has not loaded by this stage.
