Although we have site licences for most of our applications, we have some that are licenced to a particular group of workstations. (eg. multimedia teaching labs).
PROBLEM: Workstation associated applications run as the workstation and so don't have access to the users home directory.
SOLUTION: Rather than associating the application's run command with workstations, we have setup a registry key HKLM/Software/AllowedSoftware which we populate with names and version numbers of workstation licenced software. These reg settings can then be forced out to the relevant workstations, and the run and install application objects have the relevant registry key as a system requirement.
