[Freshly updated with the .cfg file used in this solution.]

I have the Digital Airlines CD and I was trying to get it to work in VMware. I got it to work but the tricky part was to manually edit the ETC\NETINFO.CFG that you're not supposed to touch. Here's how I did it:

Novell came out with a NetWare 6 demo and called the fictitious company called "Digital Airlines." The CD was designed to work on a Compaq Server and Compaq NIC. Of course this will not work right away in a VMware box, so here are the hints:

  1. Boot from the Digital Airlines CD and let it lay down the image.
  2. Boot up server, press the space bar to close the screens of all the things that say "Press any ky to close."
  3. Go to the System Console.
  4. Load NWCONFIG.
    1. Driver Options -> Configure Disk and storage device Drivers
    2. Select "Discover and load additional drivers"
    3. Accept the drivers found and exit NWCONFIG
  5. Down the server.

THEN

  1. Boot up server, press the space bar to close the screens of all the things that say "Press any ky to close."
  2. Go to the System Console.
  3. Load Vcopy or CPQFM or a DOS shell and copy over the \ETC\NETINFO.CFG file with this one.
  4. Boot up server.

You are done!

NOTE: The reason I had to do it this way is because if you delete the old NIC out and add in the new NIC driver, all the services need to be re-installed for them to work. BTW: There is no Novell TID on how to swap NIC Drivers without loosing the configs for the services. If I am "Out-to-Lunch" on this one, please correct me. I do, however, know that the method above works.

Digital Airlines

The NetWare 6.5 Demonstration Kit CD contains an image of a preconfigured demo system for NetWare 6.5 that is based on a fictitious company called Digital Airlines. The NetWare 6.5 Demonstration Kit CD has been tested in a limited number of software and hardware configurations. The image was created on an HP ProLiant DL 380 G3 using SCSI drives. It can be restored to any machine supported by NetWare 6.5.
