My problem was how to get classes for a seminary in Puebla, Mexico online. They do not have the resources to open up branch schools across Mexico. Not only do they want the ability to have the students anywhere in the world, they also wanted the teachers to be able to work from anywhere in the world. My friend runs the network and had no clue how to meet their goal.
SOLUTION: I flew down from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to meet with him and the board of directors. After several days of meetings and discussions we finally decided upon Novell's Virtual Office as the perfect solution.
Students will have a virtual classroom online where they can IM the teacher, download any assignments, and post questions. The calendar will give them a way to track their assignments and know if any changes have been made to the schedule. By adding GroupWise WebAccess they will all be providing a way for students to e-mail in their assignments. All of which they will be accessing from a single url.
Needless to say I will be flying down to Mexico several times across the next year implementing the solutions. Thanks Novell.
Who else has a cool Virtual Office story? Let us know. We're thinking of running a big contest if there are a lot of cool ideas out there. Just send us an email if you'd be interested in participating in a contest to find the three coolest Virtual Offices.
