You'd think that this would be an easy thing to do, but it turns out to be a bit harder than initially expected. It seems that the list of files needed to pull this off keep changing.

The newer builds of rconj.exe have a whole new set of files that need to be copied local to run. It took a little time but I worked this out. The following configuration works for me with the 23 Jan 2003 version or rconj.exe:
(Copy the following files from the server to your hard drive:)
Volume in drive C has no label.

Another view:
Whilst I have no doubt that the article mentioned above addresses a real world problem (Running _only_ rconj from the local drive), there's another solution that's much, much easier:
In most cases, you'd probably want to run ConsoleOne from the local drive as well. The "installation" of C1 on the local drive is easy - simply copy the entire ConsoleOne subdir from a server to the local drive, and everything's ready to roll; this _includes_ rconj that is installed as part of C1. No special installation, no need to hunt around for updated files. Updating? Just copy the files from the server again (assuming the server has been updated, of course).
I've been doing it this way almost since the first C1/RConJ incarnation, and it works reliably for all versions.

- I have never had a problem running rconj from a local drive. All I do is copy the entire ConsoleOne dir from the server which includes rconj at the root.
- I just copy the whole public directory with all subdirs to my local harddisk. That works also :)
