ZENworksTM maintains inventory information for the workstations and other devices on the network. To collate and store the inventory information, the following inventory components are in use:
Inventory Gatherer and Inventory Storer must be loaded on the inventory server for scanning of workstations. Refer to Setting Up Inventory Server Components for more information about the Inventory Gatherer and Inventory Storer.
The inventory database functions as a repository of hardware and software information for each managed workstation. This database is a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) maintained in Sybase*. The inventory database is configured at the time of ZENworks installation.
NOTE: Deletion of Workstation objects from NDS* and inventory database logs the information and error messages in ZENDEL.LOG file, located in SYS:\ETC.
The error log records the deletion status. The details of the log for deletion of each Workstation object are Workstation DN, Date and time, Success or Failure of the operation.
Failure status indicates that the workstation DN deleted from NDS did not have any information in the inventory database. It may also indicate that the database engine running on the database server was down when the deletion was initiated.
We recommend the error log should be deleted in case of a large file size.
