Before you begin installing the Novell® ClientTM software from the network, you must first set up a network install directory using either of the following methods:
NOTE: You can also install with Application Launcher, a component of Z.E.N.worksTM, which lets you distribute applications to workstations and manage those applications as objects in the NDSTM tree. For more information, see Z.E.N.works Overview.
If you have a Z.E.N.works CD-ROM, you can simply copy the files in the Doswin32 directory of the CD-ROM to a network directory.
Locate the Doswin32 directory (in the Products directory).
Copy the Doswin32 directory to the network.
Grant the users that need to install the client Read and File Scan rights to the network install directory.
For example:
rights sys:public/client/doswin32 rf /group=acc
Use a network installation method to install the client from the network.
If you have a CD-ROM drive attached to a NetWare® server, you can mount the CD-ROM as a volume of the server.
Load cdrom.nlm on the server by entering the following:
LOAD CDROM
Mount the Z.E.N.works CD-ROM as a volume of a NetWare server by entering the following:
CD MOUNT {object number| volume name} [ /name space] [ /option...]
To determine the object number or volume name, execute either CD DEVICE LIST or CD VOLUME LIST. The volume name is then found in a column labeled Volume Name and the object number is found in a column labeled No. The mounted CD-ROM volume names must be unique.
Grant the users that need to install the client Read and File Scan rights to the Doswin32 directory on the CD-ROM.
For example:
rights sys:public/client/doswin32 rf /group=acc
Use a network installation method to install Novell Client from the network.
