4.6 Download and Install Test Software

  1. If you have a previous version of either the Novell TestConsole or the Novell Print Test Tools, uninstall them with Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel. You may also remove the current version of the Print Test Tools during the installation. The installation will detect a previous version and advise accordingly.

    IMPORTANT:TestConsole projects are not backward compatible to previously released versions of the Print Test Tools. Therefore, you should complete any testing that you are currently performing before you install the latest version of the test tools.

    The version of the Print Test Tools is now displayed on the main TestConsole screen. If you don’t see it there you probably have an old version of the TestConsole and the Print Test Tools.

  2. Install the latest version of the TestConsole on all workstations.

    1. Download TestConsole from the NDK.

    2. Run Tconsole.exe.

    3. Click Next at the Welcome window.

    4. Click Yes at the License Agreement window.

    5. Click Next at the Choose Destination window.

    6. If prompted, click OK at the Adobe Acrobat warning message.

    7. Click Finish at the Setup Complete window.

    8. Reboot the system.

    9. Repeat this process for each workstation.

  3. Install the latest version of tclink on the OES Linux server.

    IMPORTANT:tclink comes in several RPM packages for different architectures such as 64-bit and 32-bit, so be sure to download and install the correct tclink RPM for the architecture of your OES Linux server.

    1. Download the correct tclink for your OES Linux server architecture from the NDK.

    2. Open a command line shell on the server and go to the directory where you downloaded tclink.

    3. At the command prompt, type rpm -ihv tclink.y.yy.yyy-y.arch.rpm.

      The letter y represents the version used in naming the file and arch represents the specific architecture. For example to install a 32-bit i386 tclink RPM, you might type something like this: rpm -ihv tclink-1.00.024-4.i586.rpm.

    4. Type tclink at the command prompt on the OES Linux server to start tclink.

  4. Install the latest version of the Print Test Tools on all workstations.

    1. Download the latest version of the Print Test Tools from the NDK.

    2. Run PrinTest.exe.

    3. Click Next at the Welcome window.

    4. Click Yes at the License Agreement window.

    5. Click Next at the Important Information window.

    6. Place a check mark next to the path of each server used in your testing.

    7. Click Finish at the Setup Complete window.

    8. Reboot the workstation.

    9. Repeat this process for each workstation.

    10. From the Windows Start menu of each workstation, click Programs > Novell Print Test Tools > TestConsole to launch the Novell TestConsole.

      NOTE:You can also click the TestConsole icon on the desktop.
