<p>
<b><font size=+2>Installing the Snapin</font></b>
<p>The Chat snapin to ConsoleOne consists of three jar
files (<a href="../Chat.jar">Chat.jar</a>, <a href="../ChatLib.jar">ChatLib.jar</a>,
and <a href="../ChatRes.jar">ChatRes.jar</a>). These are the files
that are needed to run the Chat snapin from ConsoleOne. You will
need to copy these files into three seperate pre-designated directories
where ConsoleOne will be able to find them. To do this, go to where
you have ConsoleOne installed. Under the <i>ConsoleOne</i> directory,
you should see the sub directories: <i>snapins, lib,</i> and <i>resources</i>.
Copy <a href="../Chat.jar">Chat.jar</a>, <a href="../ChatLib.jar">ChatLib.jar</a>,
and <a href="../ChatRes.jar">ChatRes.jar</a> into these directories respectively.
The <a href="../Chat.jar">Chat.jar</a> file contains the snapin registration
information that ConsoleOne uses to plug the snapin into its shell, the
<a href="../ChatLib.jar">ChatLib.jar</a>
file contains the code that actually runs Chat, and the <a href="../ChatRes.jar">ChatRes.jar</a>
file contains the localized text that is displayed to the user while using
Chat.
<p><b>NOTE:</b> The first time you run the Chat snapin, you must
do so with administrator privileges. If you don't, then Chat will
be unable to extend the schema and Chat will not work properly.
<p>Once you have copied these files into their cooresponding directories,
you will be ready to start ConsoleOne. As it loads, watch the status
bar on the bottom of the flash screen. You should see a new icon
appear <img SRC="Chat.gif" height=25 width=25 align=ABSCENTER>.
This new icon tells you that ConsoleOne has found the Chat snapin.
When the ConsoleOne shell has finished loading, Chat will take a second
or two (depending on the speed of your network) to do its initializations.
During this time, Chat will be setting up some listeners that will wait
for chat requests from other users on the network. If you're logged
in on more than one workstation, you may receive a message asking you to
select the IP address of the station you are currently using. You
wouldn't want any chat requests to be sent to the wrong workstation.
