Before you install and use the driver, you should determine which kind of installation you want to use: local or remote.
A local installation installs the driver on the same host computer where you have Identity Manager and eDirectory installed.
A remote installation installs the driver on a different computer than the one where Identity Manager and eDirectoryTM are installed. Remote installations can use SSL encryption to ensure data privacy. You should use this configuration when it is not possible or desirable to run eDirectory and Identity Manager on the SAP host system.
