The DirXML® Driver for Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) lets you provision and manage K-12 students and staff in Novell® eDirectoryTM.
SIF is an open standard created to allow K-12 education applications to exchange data effectively. The DirXML Driver for SIF works as a SIF Agent.
The 1.0 release of the driver conforms to SIF Implementation Specification 1.0r2. The 1.0.1 release of the driver conforms to SIF Implementation Specification 1.1. For information about the SIF specifications, see the Schools Interoperability Framework Web site.
For information about the driver, refer to the documentation located at the Novell Product Documentation site.
You can view the manual online in HTML, or download a copy in PDF format.
The latest readme file is also available online at the same location.
For patches and product updates for Novell® products, see Product Updates.
The original release of the DirXML Driver 1.0 for SIF implements SIF Implementation Specification 1.0r2.
Since the driver's release, the SIF Implementation Specification 1.1 has been published.
The DirXML Driver 1.0.1 for SIF is now available, containing new .jar files that implement SIF Implementation Specification 1.1. A new driver configuration file for students is also provided. The driver configuration file for staff has not changed. The DirXML Driver 1.0.1 for SIF is available from Novell Product Updates.
If you are using a student information system that implements SIF Spec 1.0r2, do not apply these changes.
If you are using a student information system that implements SIF Specification 1.1, you must install the product update. Install the product update in each place where you have installed the SIF driver. You can continue to use your existing Driver objects, or update them to take advantage of new features.
For more information, see "Upgrading" in the DirXML Driver for SIF Implementation Guide.
