The Novell Nsure Resources Model

With this solution, events in the Human Resources system drive most data exchanges. Data modification in the HR system sets provisioning processes in motion to

• Trigger the automatic creation or modification of a User object for an individual
• Grant employees access to both messaging and account systems
• Provide access to information that the individual needs in order to complete their assigned role

Although data exchanges are generally initiated by events in the HR system, the core of this solution is built on the concept of an eDirectory Workforce Tree that can be used by all participating systems.

In simplest terms, eDirectory is a list of objects that represent network resources, such as network users or servers. An eDirectory tree is a virtual representation of how network resources are organized. For more information about eDirectory and tree design, see Understanding Novell eDirectory.

The Workforce Tree is a flat eDirectory tree that includes containers for users and provisioning services. The default Workforce Tree structure is as shown below.
